I bought new tires from tire rack for stock TT rims. They are called Fuzion. And are imported from Japan. They are $10 to $20 cheaper then my normal favorites, Kuhmo, with each tire costing approx $80 to $90. The entire set of tires, including shipping was around $360.oo. Tire rack has no real world data on these tires yet. So here is my real world data.Street; They seem fairly quiet. about average for a new tire. steering response is noticably better, this is with a correct 4 wheel alignment too. the only change was the tires and nothing else. the summitomo HTR+(?) i had on the car still had PLENTY of tread, so this was not a factor. Infact, so much tread that I brought home 4 unmounted summitomos for spares. On the road, the summitomos had much more of a 'dopey'/'floaty' feel to them in comparison to the fuzions. This alone should be a reason to consider the Fuzion. Track; initial turn in was 'soft', but once the car got set, they were responsive to steering input and gave way gradually. tire noise was a very low tone screech as the tires worked. At no point in time did I experience any unexpected traction issues. With my low boost tune (11psi/330rwhp) and race fuel, wheel spin was non existant and the tires gripped exceptionally well on track out. my only complaint was the soft turn in, but that very well could have been a factor of tire pressures, as I ran an absurdly low 29/30psi cold pressure. For drifting, the tires worked fairly well. Again, I don't believe my setup was ideal. I was able to get a good power=on drift going through the bitch. The tires worked well and were very even requiring minimal throttle input to steer the car. For the money, I am very very pleased with the Japanese Fuzion Brand of tire. Buy with confidence. -------------------------------------------------------------------- thanks to ElGuapo, Maglioti(?), ChinaClipper, Aliaz (INSANE POWER!), Be-Seeing-You-Tu, and most importantly (to me), SNIPERsr71.
Sniper drove 400+miles to change a water pump. Infact, he had a friend drive from DALLAS!!! 4 plus hours to bring him a new water pump. He got 3 laps at speed...which isnt enough to teach you much. I gave him a ride, which I hoped gave him a feel for what it is that we love to do with OUR z's. I may have driven 900 miles to attend this event, but SniperSr71 deserves a ton of credit for remaining cool, calm, and collected through his ordeal. His Wife deserves a new house on the beach.
